Octaforce Disc-O-Flex Couplings
Octaforce disc-O-Flex couplings are fully metallic, easy-to-install couplings with several key features:
- Construction: They consist of two hubs, a center spacer, and stainless steel element blades, allowing for easy replacement without disturbing equipment.
 - Maintenance & Installation: They require no lubrication, have no wearing parts, and offer easy installation due to a ‘Drop Out’ spacer.
 - Performance: These couplings accommodate various misalignments (angular, parallel, axial), are suitable for high-temperature applications, and offer high speed capability with dynamic balancing.
 - Durability & Options: Non-stainless steel parts are anticorrosive coated, and special options like customized spacer lengths and materials are available.
 
Types of Octaforce Disc-O-Flex couplings and their selection procedure:
Coupling Types:
- TYPE-RLM:
 
Normal duty coupling suitable for general industrial applications.
- TYPE-REM :
 
High-performance coupling, specially suited for petrochemical & fertilizer industries, with API-671 compliance available on request and featuring an antifly spacer.
Selection Procedure:
- Select the appropriate SERVICE FACTOR from a given table.
 - Calculate DESIGN POWER at rated speed (rpm) by multiplying rated running power by the service factor, then convert this to design power at 100 rpm.
 - Refer to the rating column to find the power greater than or equal to the design power at 100 rpm, which determines the coupling size.
 - Select standard Type I or Type II hubs for shaft sizes, or Type III or Type IV hubs in Type EM for larger shaft sizes.
 - Specify the distance between shaft ends (DBSE).
